How it works for Writers

We believe in transparency and have entailed details below to give you clarity on Write Tribe’s role and responsibility at every stage to make your script standout. You will have to subscribe to Script Vault + Script Assessment services to pitch your scripts through us.
Script Vault is our repertoire of scripts that are presented to industry professionals with assessment grades.
Every script that comes our way first goes through a mandatory assessment. Why? Firstly, it helps Write Tribe ensure that we have quality scripts in our vault. Secondly, we need to make sure industry professionals find it worth their valuable time to read these scripts. Currently, Write Tribe only admits script entries from Indian residents.

Pre Assessment Process

Contact us through our website contact form or WhatsApp on +91 88508 47101 or mail us at contact@writetribe.in

Upon receiving details, Write Tribe will send a welcome mail, followed by a release form that states the writer permits Write Tribe and Write Tribe employees to read their scripts. In case there is a co-author, then both need to sign the release form.

Once the writer receives the release form, they need to Print it (release form), fill it in with their details, sign it, scan it and email it back to us along with a two-pager synopsis.

Write Tribe likes the synopsis, we will ask the writer to submit the entire script/bible for a paid assessment. The mail will also have a payment link for the same. The writer has to make the payment and send us a screenshot of the payment.

In case there is a co-author, then both need to sign the release form.

If the writer only wants to submit his story/treatment note as a story writer, then he has to mention it to the Write Tribe representative. The process & payment structure is different.

Imp Note:

Write Tribe will do a stamp paper agreement before the pitching stage.

Script Assessment Process

On receipt of the payment, Write Tribe will assess the script within 7-10 business days on various screenplay metrics like originality, plot, structure, characters, dialogues, marketability, etc.

Two industry professionals/writers will assess the scripts and present a 500-word coverage on the script/bible. The weightages for each metric will depend on the genre, current demand and the nature of the submission, since we cannot evaluate every genre the same way.

Based on the final score, we will classify the script into the following grades.

8-10-A+
7-8 – A
6-7 – B+
5-6 – B
5 and below – C

Once the evaluation process is complete, Write Tribe will mail the writer with the further process.

Post Assessment Process

Scripts graded A+, A and B+ will gain entry into our Script Vault, in order to maintain the standard of the Script Vault.

Only scripts graded B+ and above will be pitched.

Script Vault will be accessible to production houses/studios, although we recommend writers with B+ and below grades to rework their scripts and take a second assessment, as the chances of grade A+ and A scripts getting approved would be higher. Write Tribe will offer a second assessment of the same script free of cost.

Note for scripts with grade B+: scripts with B+ grade enter the script vault but can opt-in for our extensive feedback Service at a minimal cost. We will offer detailed pointers to improve the script.

We don’t believe in leaving the writer midway if the script doesn’t make it to the script vault.

Note for scripts with grade B: Scripts with Grade B will remain in our database, as we know the script has the potential to be better. Write Tribe will pitch them to industry professionals after the writer gets Grade B+ or above after reworking on the script as per our assessment.

Note for scripts with grade C: scripts with grade C will not make it to our database. We suggest writers to rework their script as per the assessment to get higher grades.

Refund Policy: If the writer gets grade C after the first assessment, you can opt for a free assessment on a second script or a 50% refund.

Pre Pitching Process

Before initiating the pitch process, the writer will have two paperwork options.

1. Release Deed cum power of attorney agreement – If the writer wants to simplify the paperwork during the pitching process, they can assign Write Tribe with the Power of Attorney agreement, which will give Write Tribe the permission to pitch to all production houses and sign on necessary paperwork on the behalf of the Writer. This option will help save the writer time and effort for the paperwork (Release forms by production houses) involved with every pitch. The writer will have to bear the paperwork charges (approx 500) for the same.

2. Release deed agreement – There will be an agreement without the power of attorney clause with Write Tribe. This is a general agreement between Write Tribe and the Writer. The writer will have to bear the paperwork charges (approx 200) for the same.

During the pitching process, the writer signs any paperwork the Production asks for. The writer should be prepared for regular paperwork for every pitch involved.

Only after securing the writer’s permission (through option 1 or 2) will Write Tribe engage in pitching to the studio. The paperwork is done to ensure transparency from our side.

Disclaimer: ‌Certain production houses might not give a release letter because of mutual trust. The writer will be asked if they want to pitch it or not via email.

Pitching Process

After the paperwork with Write Tribe,we will judge which scripts should be pitched to which production house/ studio according to the script genre, budget, production house/ studio content strategy and pitch it.

On liking a script, the production house/studio is then presented with two options –

1. Purchase the script outright
2. Purchase the rights to develop and pitch the script (script option) depending on the deal with the producer/ studio.

An MOU will be signed with the production house/studio to the relevant effect.

In case of an outright purchase, Writer Tribe will negotiate the writer’s remuneration with the Production house/ Studio. Write Tribe will charge the writer a 15% management fee.

In case of a script option, Write Tribe will charge 15% management fee whenever any payment is made by the production house to the writer.

Post Pitching Process

If the production house/studio goes ahead with the script, writers residing in Mumbai must be physically present for the pitch/narration/development. Non-resident writers must be ‌physically present or join via Zoom call for the pitch/narration/development as per the producer’s requirements. Write Tribe will not be part of the script development/narration.

Any payment/negotiation with regards to the writer will be processed through Write Tribe, who will pay the writer, after deducting the 15% commission charges as per the agreement.

Writer Tribe will not hold any rights over the script. That will solely remain with the script writer. Write Tribe will however receive credit as a Script Partner.
